Interview with the founder
We have had a little chat with Anamica, founder and designer of For Love & Reason, and asked her a few questions. Want to know Anamica better? Then stay with us.
Where are you from? I’m from the Netherlands. I’m born in Amsterdam, raised in Almere. However I always felt like a global citizen.
Why did you decide to become a designer? I think it's because I'm passionate about the subject. I wanted to introduce a brand with an international heart and aesthetic. It wasn't always easy for me to find clothes that are beautiful, comfortable, fairly priced and let alone ethically made. I needed to change that.
Who inspires you? My mother inspires me, she is the most important woman in my life. But I’m also inspired by different women around the world. I love to observe them.
What’s your personal style? Comfy and chic
Who is the FL&R woman? She is confident, mindful and cherishes each moment. She is inspiring.
How did growing up in a diverse environment influence you and your life? First of all, I’m so grateful and lucky to have been born in a culturally diverse environment. It has broadened my horizon on so many levels. You learn more from different people. If you’re open to it there’s so much to explore and there’s so much beauty around you.
FL&R celebrates different women around the world. Why is this so important to you? FL&R only exists because of all the wonderful women around the world. Our mission has always been to empower women through self expression. We want them to pursue their dreams and live life fearlessly. This is one of the ways to make the world a better place.
Why do you think sustainability is so important in fashion? Because we all have to do our part to heal the world. We cannot keep demanding things from nature and people. That’s unacceptable and not sustainable. Fortunately, there are a lot of things we can do as individuals and businesses. It starts with us making the right choices. Consumers have the power which brands they choose. FL&R wants to inspire and educate them to make conscious decisions. I feel it’s our job to do that.
What’s your favorite FL&R piece? I can’t choose. I really love them all. I think it depends on my mood. Right now I’m really into the turtleneck top.
What do you do when you are not designing? I’m obsessed with FL&R so I’m always thinking on what to design. Hmm, I’m learning about spirituality and myself. I love to read self-discovery books and success stories. I love to travel, hike in nature and I want to do more yoga.
